Privacy policy

About this policy
Masjid Hub collects only what it needs to show prayer and jamaat times, send notifications you ask for, and let masjid staff update their masjid. We do not sell your data, use advertising networks, or use tracking or analytics SDKs. The app may show promotion cards from local businesses; they are plain links and the business receives no information about you.
Masjid Hub is developed and operated by Imran Bhadelia, an individual developer based in India ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Masjid Hub mobile app for iOS and Android and the services behind it.
Information we collect
You can use Masjid Hub without an account. Accounts exist only for masjid staff, and are created by a Masjid Hub administrator, not by sign-up in the app.
| Data | Who it applies to | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Name and mobile number | Masjid staff with an account | To sign you in with a one-time password (OTP) and show who updated a masjid |
| Your role at each masjid | Masjid staff with an account | To decide which masjids you may edit |
| Device identifier generated by the app, platform (iOS or Android) | Every install | To recognise your install and keep it signed in securely |
| Push notification token | Every install that allows notifications | To send prayer time changes and reminders |
| Notification on/off setting | Every install | To stop sending pushes when you turn them off |
| Areas and masjids you pick or mark as favourite | Every install | To show their timings and notify you when they change |
| Changes you make to masjid timings | Masjid staff with an account | To publish updated timings to other users |
| Technical logs (IP address, request time, errors) | Every install | To keep the service secure, limit abuse and fix problems |
We do not collect your email address, contacts, photos, payment details, or advertising identifiers.
How we use information
We use the information above only to run Masjid Hub:
- Show prayer and jamaat times for the areas and masjids you choose
- Send push notifications when timings you follow change
- Sign masjid staff in and check what they are allowed to edit
- Protect the service against misuse, such as too many OTP requests
- Diagnose errors and improve reliability
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or tracking across other apps and websites.
Location and notifications
Your location never leaves your device. If you allow location access, the app uses it on your phone to sort nearby masjids, show distances, calculate prayer times, and point the Qibla compass. We do not send it to our servers or store it. You can turn location off in your device settings at any time; the app then uses the area you pick.
Notifications are optional. If you allow them, we store a push token for your install so we can send timing changes. Prayer reminders are scheduled on your device. You can turn notifications off in the app's settings or in your device settings.
Third-party services
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run the app, and only what each one needs:
| Provider | What they receive | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Expo, Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging | Push token and notification content | Delivering push notifications |
| SMS / WhatsApp OTP provider (MiniMoth or 2Factor) | Mobile number and one-time code | Sending sign-in codes to masjid staff |
| Apple Maps / Google Maps (in-app maps) | Map area being viewed, handled under the map provider's own policy | Showing masjids on a map |
| Hosting provider | All data we store, encrypted in transit | Running our servers and database |
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users and the service.
Data retention and security
We keep data only as long as it is needed:
- One-time passwords expire within minutes and are deleted after use; only a hash of the code is stored
- Account details are kept while the account is active and deleted when the account is removed
- Device records, push tokens and favourites are kept while the app is in use
- Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Sign-in credentials are stored in your device's secure storage, and device tokens are encrypted on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Your rights and deleting your data
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
- Delete your account: email us from the contact below with your registered mobile number. We delete your name, mobile number, roles and linked device data within 30 days.
- Remove device data: uninstalling the app stops all data collection from that install. Ask us to delete its stored records too.
- Withdraw consent: turn off location or notifications in your device settings at any time.
We may keep timing changes you published to a masjid, without your name, so the masjid's records stay correct.
Children's privacy
Masjid Hub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Accounts are created only for masjid staff. If you believe a child's data has reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will notify you in the app.
